Access Statement for Portland-Pebble 9 Smallmouth Close Wyke Regis Dorset DT4 9XS

Introduction

Portland-Pebble is located in Smallmouth Bay at Wyke Regis, Weymouth Dorset.  It offers two guest rooms with en-suite suitable for use for double or single occupancy. We can supply a single bed in middships to make it a triple if required.

The house is an end of terrace over three floors, having views over the Portland Harbour.

Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests, there are some features of the house which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

  By car

From the South and London: Follow the A35 towards Dorchester, but turn off on the junction for the A354 (that has signs for Weymouth). Then simply follow the signs into the town. Once in Weymouth there are many signs for Portland. From the West Country: Follow the signs for Bridport, and then at the roundabout near Morrison’s take the coast road towards Weymouth, or the main road towards Portland. Once in Weymouth there are many signs for Portland. Follow the signs for Portland when you come down the hill in Wyke Regis you go through a set of traffic lights after which there is a small roundabout turn left at this roundabout into whitehead drive then at the mini roundabout turn left  the Portland pebble is the house on the left at the end of this road.

Public Transport

There is a bus stop with a shelter 50 metres from the house.  Buses no 1 and no 10 come from Weymouth and Dorchester to Portland. The bus stop to Weymouth and Dorchester is about 200 metres from the house. The stop is the ferry bridge.

First Buses run a regular bus services around Weymouth and also to Portland, Dorchester, Abbotsbury, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Seaton, Exeter, Axminster, Wareham & Poole.       Phone:  0870 0106 022   http://www.firstgroup.com

Wilts & Dorset run a daily bus services to Blandford and Salisbury. There is also a taxi rank outside the station. Phone: 01983 82700 http://www.wdbus.co.uk

National Express operates a coach service to and from Weymouth's Seafront. Services run to London Victoria, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Bristol with connections to other locations from those towns

Train The nearest train station is in Weymouth. Trains to Weymouth come direct from London Waterloo and Bristol. Connections can be made from the north by changing trains at London, Bristol or at Southampton.

There is a bus stop two minutes from the train station with direct busses to Portland. There is also a taxi rank outside the station.

South West Trains run a twice hourly service to London Waterloo, also calling at Dorchester, Wool, Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Brockenhurst, Southampton and Winchester. Phone: 0845 6000 650     http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk

By ferry Condor Ferries operates a direct ferry service from Jersey and Guernsey. Easy connections can be made with the St Malo (France) ferry at Jersey. The ferry terminal is only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre

Concessionary Travel
